Settlement date!

We have a date!! Sorry for the lack of posting but we've been busy packing! Settlement is booked for Thursday 4th July and the removalist is coming on Friday the 5th. I can't wait to be in our new house! Rhys had to talk me out of sleeping there Thursday night in a sleeping bag haha. The only thing that made me change my mind was the fact that the removalists will be here at 9am and it's a 1 1/2 hour drive.

So tomorrow after work we're staying at our friend's place down there, meeting SS on site at 9:30 to go through the house, and then if all is well we head back to Port Melbourne to pick up the keys. Why we have to go all the way back to Melbourne again I'll never understand, but apparently PD won't do it any other way so that's that! If everything finishes up early enough we wanted to take a ute load of boxes down Thursday just to get a bit of a head start and then we'll head back up to Melbourne for dinner with close friends to celebrate our last night as Melbournians.

End of an era, but the start of so much more!

  1. Hi Courtnee,
Its great to hear that your home was completed smoothly. I have also placed the initial deposit for a Montague 21 - 4th BR, Living & Alfresco option (comes to 24 sq).
I would like to see the photos and your experience.
Could you please let me know if you chosen landscaping and blinds/curtains through Porter Davis?

  2. Hey Fern,

We got the landscaping package as part of our bonus that was going at the time (either air con or landscaping) but they haven't started that yet. That part is our fault, the concreter contacted us almost immediately after settlement but we changed our minds about what colour driveway we wanted so that's held him up! He starts on Tuesday.

As for curtains/blinds, we got a quote from Birk who do the PD blinds but have eventually gone with Kresta. Also don't have this done yet, blinds currently being made, but once they're up I'll post some photos. The Kresta quote came in about $1,000 cheaper than Birk but that was after some haggling. Didn't try to haggle with Birk so I can't speak to their negotiating abilities!

We're hoping to get a bit more unpacked and settled this weekend and then I'll start taking some post-handover photos! If there's anything specific you want a shot of let me know :)
